Renati Waaka

Renati Waaka is a visual artist and photographer currently based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

His work explores themes of connection, whakapapa, fluidity, and identity as a young Māori person. A recent series of images shared by Renati on Instagram captured a friend adorned in kōkōwai, and spoke to conceptualisations of gender beyond the binary, and finding ourselves in relationship to whenua.
