Mana Whenua

– By Sarah Hudson (2020)

A 55-page publication documenting an art and mātauranga exchange between 11 Māori artists over the course of Matariki rising 2020.

Frustrated by only being able to find historical accounts of kōkōwai in my research, I commissioned new works by 11 contemporary Māori artists who use whenua in their practices.

This book is perfect for any art + taiao enthusiasts, kaiako looking for artist models for their students, earth pigment practitioners, or anyone with an interest in the land and the colours beneath our feet.

Artists featured in Mana Whenua: Ayesha Green, Sarah Hikuroa, Nikau Hindin, Ana Iti, Kahu Kutia, Sian Montgomery-Neutze, Bronte Perry, Nathan Pōhio, Bridget Reweti, Raukura Turei, Cora-Allan Wickliffe
