Te Waipākihi represents the wetlands in our taiao.

Some whakapapa says that Rangi and Papa begat Te Pūtoto, who with Parawhenuamea begat Rakahore, who with Ukurangi begat Te Waipakihi and Tuamatua. Another kōrero says that Tuamatua and Te Waipakihi begat Te Ikaroa.

Sometimes looking at the taiao for yourself and observing all of the relationships is the best way to find which whakapapa is most true to you.

Where is the nearest wetland to where you are? What kinds of things will you find there?
